Gweithdy, St Fagan's National History Museum, Cardiff

St Fagans National Museum of History is one of world’s leading open–air museums and Wales’s most-visited heritage attraction.  Gweithdy is a brand new sustainable building celebrating the skills of makers past and present, which encourages visitors of all ages to experience traditional skills first-hand.

It stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth. During the last fifty years, over fifty original buildings from different locations in Wales and from different historical periods have been re-built in the 100-acre parkland. Each building is frozen in time and opens a door into Welsh history offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.

Working with Kier Construction, JJ Interiors manufactured and installed a variety of fitted furniture including servery counters, workbenches, reception counters, viewing windows and bespoke corian ‘cascading’ trough sinks for this new building at the St Fagans National History Museum.

We also undertook the manufacture of various loose furniture including locker units, tray stores and bin stores.

Working closely with our steel fabricators, JJ Interiors were able to offer our client a turnkey solution with FF&E manufacture.

In addition to the FF&E package, JJ Interiors also undertook the main carpentry and dry lining works, bringing together all three of our services together for one project with superb results.

Work was completed in Easter 2016.

Project value: £465k
