Pegasus Living Reception Pod
Updated: Nov 28, 2017
Work is progressing well on the carved solid oak reception pod for Pegasus Living in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
In order to achieve the sphere design we had to build layers of glued and cramped oak blocks together in order to achieve the required height.
Over 20 layers of glued and cramped blocks were used in total to build the layers up!
Each layer was then carefully cut on the bandsaw around a CNC machined template for that exact layer.
Once each layer was cut around the template it is placed ontop of the previous template. The sphere is now taking shape!
All the layers have now been formed and the sphere is fully sanded to form a smooth finish.
Now let the carving commence!
From here on in the painstaking process of carving the block into a 'rippled' rough texture effect will take place. Once the carving is complete a solid oak cabinet will be positioned to the rear of the pod completing work to the meet and greet reception pod.
